ARTIST’S BIO
Charley Rude (formerly Carlo Savo) was born and raised in Northeast Pennsylvania, a few miles outside of Scranton, PA. She began drawing at a young age, copying comic book covers and popular cartoon characters of the era. As a teenager, she taught himself painting and traditional figure drawing. Though she received some guidance from various individuals who encouraged her in her artistic pursuits, Charley has never had a formal art education. At the age of 18, she became an apprentice auctioneer and entered the world of antiques and fine art. During her sixteen years as an auctioneer, she gained firsthand knowledge of the art world and collecting. In 2016, she left her career in antiques to pursue new opportunities and further explore her artistic vision.
After decades of living a closeted life, Charley's egg cracked. At the age of 43, she stepped out into the world as a proud trans woman. She is determined to be as visible and open as possible so that others like her can see that it is never too late to live as their true self.
